How much it costs

We charge $29.95 per cassette (both sides), minimum $45.00 per job, to have your cassette audio tapes digitized to any number of high-quality CD audio formats.  The audio contents of your cassette tapes will be transferred to CD media as a continuous single track in either standard CD Audio (Red Book) format, MP3 audio format, or WAV audio format. If you wish, we can manually create individual tracks from your audio cassette tape contents at an extra charge of $3.00 per cut.

Audio cassette tape conversion details

We will convert your audio tape cassettes to CD in either CD-Audio, MP3 audio or to PCM WAV audio encoded format. For listening purposes, choosing CD-Audio or MP3 conversions are a great first choice as there are many portable players available supporting this format. Alternatively, if editing is your goal, choosing the established WAV audio format (PCM 16bit, 44.1Kb/s sampling and 2 Channel stereo) works very well.  Following your editing session, you can compress to either MP3 audio, AC-3 Dolby audio, Windows Media Audio or any of the other popular audio CODECs available to you from either an internet download or a retail purchase.  All computer based natively installed audio players whether you have a MAC or Windows based machine, will playback WAV, MP3 or CD-Audio encoded material at a minimum.

As part of your audio cassette to CD transfer, consider having any time induced tape hiss or other undesirable noises reduced or just outright eliminated from your digitiized audio tracks. We use state of the art digital signal processing or DSP techniques to identify, analyze and act on those affected sound tracks. Broadband audio noise, tape hiss, rumble, hum or the more difficult non-periodic noises can be reduced or removed, isolating the desired audio tape content from the annoying background distractions. The added step of frequency equalization adjustments or EQ, will make your aged audio tracks come to life.  The resulting digitized audio tracks will be quieter, brighter and fuller sounding.

As an additional option, your cassette tape to CD transfers can be published to archival grade Gold CDR media ensuring longer term storage and a more reliable playback experience of your audio memories.

All audio cassette to CD conversions include processing both sides of the tape at one low price.

Important options

Archival Gold CD discs

  add $7.00 / disc

Instead of using standard CD-R discs, we can burn your project onto Archival Gold CD-R discs. These discs are the latest in archival quality media and use 24 karat gold as the reflective layer, offering maximum resistance to chemical breakdown—one of the major causes of disc failure.

Tracks

  $3.00 per track

By creating tracks, you can skip from song to song independently using the Next button on your CD player, or simply to know which song is currently playing. If you do not provide us a list of corresponding track titles, we will number the tracks (Track 1, Track 2, etc) instead.

Extra copies

  add $9.95 / disc

Each extra copy is fully packaged just like the one included with your order. If you would like to have the copies burned onto Archival Gold CD-R discs, add another $7.00 per disc.

How long it takes

Our goal is to complete reel-to-reel audio transfer jobs within 3 weeks upon receipt of order. For larger jobs, please allow more time. The actual delivery date can be narrowed down when we have discussed your order details. For rush orders (7 days or less), expect a 25% surcharge on the value of the entire order.

Audio on CD

Audio Filtering

We apply rudimentary filtering (audio equalization) but no specialized signal processing to your audio unless otherwise requested. Extra costs are incurred to have our DSP techniques applied to your audio tracks if requested.

Satisfaction guarantee

Our ultimate goal is to make sure that you're happy with your reel to reel audio transfer—making sure that you don't lose precious memories to the normal decay of analog media.

If it has been determined that the problem originates with HomeDVD, we will do our utmost to resolve it at no charge to you (we'll also pay for shipping if applicable).
