Definition: Bundling - a unique end to end service that groups together one or more film to High Definition (HD) conversion steps to create one of many complete working solutions.
To help cut through the complexity of choosing which combinations of the many Film to HD video conversion functions and options we offer, we have developed a series of end to end HD Film transfer bundles that may match your 8mm or Super 8 film conversion goals. Bundling rather than choosing a discrete custom transfer profile provides us the opportunity to shave costs which we gladly pass on to you our customer in the form of a discount.
Of course we offer many individual functional options as well, that can be assembled for custom video projects that an HD film transfer to video bundle we currently offer will not cover.
For 8mm or Super 8 home movie film to HD video transfer projects that are 300 feet or less there is a fixed minimum charge that includes all the conversion processes necessary to allow your transferred films to be successfully viewed in High Definition video using a fully authored Blu-ray or AVCHD based DVD disk. There is no requirement for a hard drive investment in these cases to help keep costs down.
AVCHD based bundles and options are tentatively offered as some Blu-ray players in the current installed base do not support the AVCHD format (this issue will diminish as time moves on). A list of AVCHD supported Blu-ray players is now posted in our resource section that offers the means to play back AVCHD authored DVD disks. The list must be vetted, as there is so much unchallenged information out there. Our AVCHD service may be restricted to customers who own proven AVCHD enabled Blu-ray players. There is confusion, on Blu-ray players, recordable media and burners that need sorting out. A worrisome combination, that may be reason enough to be cautious. Alternatively, Blu-ray specified compression formats like H.264 and MPEG-2 are inherently interoperable in all Blu-ray players currently in distribution, which we at HomeDVD confidently offer and support.

Scene by scene core edits, gain, gamma/density, pedestal adjustments, junk film removal

- Proper video retiming (pull down) for smooth playback
- Image resizing may be 4:3 1440x1080 1.33 or full 16:9 1920x1080 sq

No special video filters are applied in this phase of the 8mm or Super8 film to HD video telecine process to improve any visually impaired film segments. The 8mm and Super8 film to HD video files is in its raw state, aside from the color, gamma and luminance adjustments made. We do offer basic film grain reduction filters as an option to remove and improve the video respectively, one of the most fundamental of aging film anomalies.
A more comprehensive film restoration protocol for 8mm and Super8 mm film maybe too cost prohibitive to consider as these techniques are usually applied to industrial clients with 16mm or larger film gauges. Contact HomeDVD for more information.
